Clear aligners or plaques are transparent, removable and comfortable which correct your teeth in a way similar to metal braces. They aren’t completely invisible and they can be removed, therefore during the treatment you can eat and drink as you wish without having any hygienic problems during your daily activities. In addition to this, it is very easy to brush and to use dental floss while wearing them. The aligners are very comfortable and they don’t have any metal protrusions which may cause wounds in the mouth. Invisalign is an application carried out with 3D computer screening technology and proved to lead to considerably successful outcomes. Although not widespread in our country as in Europe or America, Dr. Cengiz Gadimli our orthodontics specialist at Antmodern holds an Invisalign Treatment Certificate.
The first stage of the orthodontic treatment with clear aligners is to form a digital model by taking a digital mould of the teeth using 3D intraoral scanner iTero and forming a treatment plan according to these measurements. The digital treatment plan enables you to see the final stage of your smile design along with all the processes you will experience as the treatment continues. This is an undescribable experience for our patients. If your treatment is taken digitally, on the same day, 3D printers and state-of-the-art dental materials begin the production of plaques.
Every plaque is applied for 10-14 days, afterwards the next one follows. With alternating plaque changes, forces are applied in desired directions and angles resulting in teeth movements. The pain caused by clear aligners is four times less than with metal brackets. The aligners have to be applied about 20 hours a day for a successful Invisalign treatment. The patient is followed with 6-8 week sessions and the treatment lasts about 9-15 months depending on the strength of the deficiency. The success rate of the treatment depends fully on the aligner usage of the patient.
The fact that it provides the opportunity to enjoy your favorite food, the opportunity to be without metal brackets while doing sports and on special occasions such as engagement, wedding, graduation ceremonies, and the feeling of brushing your teeth freely makes this treatment unique. The aligners aren’t fully invisible but as they are removable you have the opportunity to eat and drink whatever you wish during the treatment. Brushing your teeth or using dental floss isn’t a problem. Moreover they are comfortable and do not contain metal which could lead to abrasion in the mouth. The absence of metals and brackets mean that you have to spend less time at the clinic for adjustments. Furthermore Invisalign provides the opportunity to see your virtual treatment planning which gives you the chance to observe how your teeth will look like after completion. It is even possible to follow your personal alteration from your mobile phone!
